Last month, I went to the movies to see Priscilla, the second installment in the Elvis Presley Cinematic Universe that started with 2022’s Elvis and presumably continues with 2024’s Thomas. During the pre-roll ads, Regal was kind enough to let everyone know that, just in time for the holiday season, the theater would be screening Ron Howard’s notably dreadful 2000 film Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
There are two things I remember about Grinch 2000, as it is sometimes called. They are:
Busta Rhymes recorded a song for the soundtrack called “Grinch 2000,” which begins with Jim Carrey — as the Grinch — saying, “This is a Flipmode Squad/Jim Carrey collabo.” It’s one of my favorite crossovers in all of musical history.

So now — thanks in part to filmic works of Sofia Coppola — I’ve got Baby Grinch on the brain. I’ve contracted Baby Grinch Fever, and the only prescription is more Baby Grinch. “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my Baby Grinch,” etc. What if the Grinch was a Baby? Funny to think about, and a bit profound.
This past weekend, I decided to look at pictures of Baby Grinch again, and because I am nothing if not generous, I shared my phone screen on the TV so that my girlfriend could also experience what it’s like to search “baby grnich” [sic] on Google Images. After I’d exhausted those results, I went to Etsy, where I also spent an hour browsing Baby Grinch-related wares.
